Bats
Although a protected species in British Columbia, bats are often negatively perceived for rabies when in fact only about 0.5% of bats pose a risk to people. The concern instead is due to their activity associated with roosting in structures.
As they are gregarious and live in colonies, bat roosts can host 1000s of individuals which not only create a noise disturbance but their guano (droppings) accumulates, collapsing infrastructure, staining insulation and presenting a health hazard to residents.
Through our relationship with BC Bats | Community Bat Programs of BC, our team has been trained to expertly remove bats from within structures through sealing up of access points and humane removal while colonies are away during winter hibernation.
Bats have several environmental benefits such as pollination and insect control, and so by installing a bat box at your site in combination with structural bat-proofing you will be supporting protected species without the worry of them in your building. Their activity is also really fun to watch!
