FAQs
If I want an assessment done, do I need to be there for the visit?
Dealing with rodents and wildlife doesn't need to add to your already full life or take up anymore of your time.
That's where our expertise and knowledge of animal behaviour comes in. We can efficiently identify the kind of wildlife you are dealing with and how to permanently solve your problem from the outside of the structure without the need to come into your home.
How you ask? It really is easy when you know what you looking for - all animals leave evidence of activity and we are trained to pick up on the smallest of details. It also doesn't hurt that our team is made up of conservationists who have been studying animal behaviour and their interactions with urban environments for decades.
Once we have completed the inspection, the team will provide a comprehensive report with the findings, images and a detailed way forward to solve the problem in the quickest possible time. We are on-call to answer any questions you may have and to support you being critter-free.
What about rodent trapping service visits? Can these also be done without me being home?
Yes they can. Although it is always helpful for the team to assess the interior environment to ensure mice don't have ongoing access to food supplies, we are still able to service you even if you are not home for trap check visits.
Simply leave the secure stations outside your front door on the day of the scheduled visit and we will service these for you to replace on your return.
Don't worry about not knowing where to place them back - the team will support you with this specific to your situation.
Remember any interior trapping is secondary to the pest proofing the team would have already successfully completed. It is simply to trap and remove any mice locked inside. So even if the stations are not placed in the most ideal spots inside your home, mice will still be forced to engage in the traps as they have no alternative to a food supply. It is only a matter of time.
Why can't you provide an estimate over the phone?
We don't sell "one-size-fits-all" wildlife packages.
How any animal interacts with your structure is unique to the variables you have onsite.
You for instance may only have a few holes while your neighbour with the a similar build has an entire gutterline that needs to be addressed.
It would therefore be unfair of us to give you an inflated price when really it doesn't apply to you.
Our assessments are customized to what you need to solve the problem. We can only do that once a technician has seen your site to ensure we only quote what you need - without the add ons, nice to have or fluff.
Can you really get me mouse-free?
Absolutely, and we do so for clients all the time! Whether you are in a one-bedroom condo, manage multiple units or own a large warehouse the approach is the same - find how the mice are getting in, pest proof all current entry holes as well as vulnerabilities to stop the flow of mice into the structure, and run a targeted poison-free trapping program on the interior to trap and remove any mice locked inside.
No ongoing baiting programs leaving you frustrated and out of pocket...while you still have to deal with the mice
No decomposing mice bodies in the walls associated with poison resulting in an awful smell and potential health and safety concerns
No contracts which lock you in ensuring that you continue with ineffective service citing: you need an additional bait replenishment as your "warranty" has run out
Instead it really is that simple: seal up and account for every single rodent removed.
Can you really guarantee wildlife won't be able to get back in?
Absolutely! All our workmanship is guaranteed - not only because we take pride in what we do but it would do us no favours doing a half job on your site only to be called back for a warranty visit as the problem would not have been solved the first time.
We want you critter free and will not leave your property until you are.
We can easily apply multiple year warranties covering multiple species due to our exceptional workmanship, top-quality materials and attention to detail. It really is an investment against ongoing rodents and wildlife in your structure.
Are you insured?
We sure are!
We take the safety of our team and working on your site very seriously which is why we not only have an upstanding record with WorkSafe BC but also hold third party liability insurance.
I have set up my own traps, why aren't I catching anything?
If holes allowing mice access into your building remain open, mice will have no reason to engage with the traps.
Have our team out to inspect your structure as you need to stop the flow of mice inside and once sealed up the rodents will be pressured to look for food - that's where our trapping program comes in.
Similarly our team will not trap inside a structure unless pest proofing is done first.
We do this for a number of reasons:
Firstly, because it is unethical to take your money when we know the service is not going to be effective
Secondly, the mice will not engage in the traps as their entry and exit points remain wide open allowing them free range of alternative food sources
Thirdly, you will still have a mouse problem
Fourthly, you will still have a mouse problem
Fifthly, you will still have a mouse problem
We could keep going, but you get the point.
Anything short of pest-proofing and running a targeted trapping program is like bailing water out of a sinking ship without plugging any holes. It simply does not work.
I think there may also be wildlife babies. What now?
Our team are trained to identify den/nesting sites as well as find the presence of babies. As we hold the welfare of wildlife as a top priority, we understand the breeding seasons of the different wildlife species and are specialists at looking for signs which may indicate young onsite.
We will not seal up a structure without confirming that there are no babies in the structure which we do using a variety of species-specific methods.
If babies are found during service, our team will easily adapt their approach and provide you with all the necessary to support.
Typically mothers will hunker down nurse their offspring which once mobile will follow her out. Earlier removal of babies by our team will depend on the stage of development which varies between species as well as their access.
Once you seal up, how do you get the animals out of my structure?
This really depends on what species of animal you are dealing with.
From rats to raccoons this will require the installation of a device called a one-way door. These are humane devices that are installed on the main entry points on the home allowing the wildlife to push out through the one directional spring loaded door as part of their usual activity and pathway. Driven by thirst, animals typically take 24-48 hours to exit.
For bat and birds these are called bat or bird cones which works on the same principle with a slightly different application allowing the flying creatures to leave but not re-enter.
Once on the outside they won't be able to get back in as your structure would have been pest proofed. This method minimizes the stress on animals involved in handling but also reinforces the success of the service as it is the animals' decision to move onto a satellite den site or find an alternative home due to eviction.
Mice, being the smallest prey species, are much more timid and apprehensive about interacting with novel contraptions such as one way doors and so instead we run targeted humane poison-free trapping programs on the building interior to remove any locked inside after pest proofing.
Regardless of the approach we will never seal up a building without ensuring we can and will remove every single individual onsite.
I am worried about what my neighbours might think if I need pest control. Can you be discrete?
We understand the stress related to having rodents or wildlife in your home. Trust us we have been there ourselves and know the feeling.
We also understand the sensitivity and potential negative connotations surrounding this topic too. This is why we go to extra lengths to minimize this concern on you - one of the ways we do this is by not having pest control in our company title nor in any of our branding.
We are wildlife specialists - we just happen to also be experts in animals considered to be pests.
Furthermore our company fleet are professionally branded and our team are discrete during site visits.
If you have a particular concern or request, let us know we will do our best to accommodate and support you.
