Geese
Due to human encroachment, Canadian Geese, Mallard ducks, Widgeons and other waterfowl have habituated to finding alternative nesting sites in urban environments. With a preference for open areas ensuring an unobstructed view of potential predators; parks, golf courses, grassy areas and even roof top patios are often sources of conflict.
As migratory species, Canadian Geese and other waterfowl cannot be harmed nor their eggs or active nest disturbed unless under a permit issued by the Environment and Climate Change Canada-Canadian Wildlife Service.
Our wildlife crews are trained and permitted to offer a full suite of management options ranging from hazing programs for immediate control, habitat modification, long term egg addling and population control programs.
Our highly trained team of dogs are the most effective deterrent for waterfowl. Specialized training in tracking/scent work as well as livestock herding, create the most effective bird control dogs. It’s not about having a dog that just races towards birds. Our dogs’ posture and approach mimic that of a wild K9 hunting and stocking, which is seen as a valid threat from birds. With years of training and obedience it’s no wonder why our dogs are some of the best bird dogs out there.
Couple our dogs with skilled handlers equipped with some of the latest remote control deterrents and humane population control techniques and you have a long term solution to bird management.
Should you find yourself with a Canadian Geese nest on your property and very protective parents, be aware that nest removal can only take place with a permit and only granted under very specific conditions within breeding season.
Prevention is therefore better than the birds.
Canada Geese mate for life and will return to the same location to nest year after year.
