Raccoons
A group of raccoons is called a gaze - an appropriate term when you have a family looking out at you from within your eaves or under your deck. Skilled at finding vulnerabilities on structures for a suitable den site, raccoons are strong enough to rip off soffiting at roof level or parts of a stair at ground level to gain access especially when its baby season.
We understand raccoon behaviour can be very frustrating, and so addressing the root cause as to why they are on your property will ensure a meaningful result rather than a bandaid fix.
One such example of this is trapping and removal. Our team does not endorse live trapping and removal for several reasons and will only offer this option under very specific circumstances. Not only will this approach result in wasting your resources but you will be back to square one as animals removed will create a void for new raccoons to move in. From a wildlife perspective, relocating individuals into unknown territory where they need to fight for space and don't know where to find food is an inhumane practice and not a service we readily offer.
Instead our trained wildlife techs, will assess your building and identify how the raccoons are entering. These will all be sealed up along with any structural vulnerabilities as we don't want the raccoons simply moving to a new spot to get back in.
We install a one-way door to allow raccoons to leave, which they typically do within 24-48 hours. Once on the outside they will be forced to move on as your entire building will be raccoon-proofed.
Please don't waste your money on buying gimmicks and deterrents. We have heard them all and no, they don't work.
Raccoons will come back year after year to the same den/nest site to have their young. Don't get caught supporting multiple generations - ensure your building is raccoon-proofed before babies are dropped between March - May.
