Training
Through training programs our instructors empower and promote large-scale environmental change.
Our beaver management training is geared toward municipal staff, non-profits, conservation organizations, and land managers dealing with wetlands and beaver habitats.
Traditionally conducted over two days of practical training but this can be tailored to clients' individual needs and capacity.
To establish a sound knowledge base, the course starts by teaching the fundamentals of beaver management methodology, flow control devices, how the devices work, what makes them effective and how they can be adapted to different situations.
Applying knowledge to practice is imperative to master the new skills and so the team gets involved in a hands-on project which usually involves installing several flow control devices and beaver dam analogs (BDA's) at one or two predetermined sites. These locations are usually pre-determined by the clients however our beaver specialists can easily advise on the best possible sites based on information and details received ahead of the training session for the environment at hand to ensure a successful outcome.
Our objective is to empower stakeholders and local communities to improve habitats and minimize human-beaver conflict. In order to achieve this our instructors will engage in practical applications as to how to adapt the principles of the devices and management to the specific needs within the training community.
