Otters are charismatic creatures who thrive in ponds, lakes, rivers, estuaries, bays, and open waters along the coast. Due to habitat fragmentation and human development, conflict between people and otters may occur.

These include koi fish being eaten from ponds, waterfront property banks' collapsing due to activity, denning under structures, and boats and docks being damaged and covered in oily foul-smelling otter waste.

Although some incidences may be a simple inconvenience, others can quickly compound resulting in hundred of thousands of dollars in damage with otter poop being a major culprit!

Effective otter management is the only solution to mitigate this conflict and solve these problems. Depending on the situation, management can range from deterrence to physical exclusion and humane trapping.
